Mount Tabor, with two churches built at its peak, is located in the Jezreel Valley lying 1,843 feet above sea level. It is believed by many to be the site of the Transfiguration of Christ and the battle that took place between Barak and the army of Jabin. In this battle, the prophetess Deborah summoned Barak to “Go forth to the mountain of Tabor and take with you 10,000 men of the Naphtali and Zebulun tribes” (Judges 4:6; 12, 14). Three Arab villages are located at its base – Shibli (east), Umm Al Ghanam (south east) and Daburiya (west).
The north and the south thou has created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in the name (Psalm 89:12).
